Although Valentine's Day is over and done with, the KiBiSi Partners over at BIG keep everyone all loved up with this 10 foot-tall, interactive heart installation in Times Square
For this rather spectacular installation, Bjarke Ingels' famed firm, BIG, have used 400 special LED-filled tubes to create a heart cube that reacts to the environment around it.
This effectively means that the more people that interact with the installation, the brighter the heart will glow: “The transparent tubes refract the lights of Times Square, creating a cluster of lights around the heart. The hovering heart will appear to pulsate as its tubes sway in the wind. When people touch a heart-shaped sensor, the heart will glow brighter as the energy from their hands is converted into more light.”
Running from the 6th - the 29th of Febuary, the remarkable installation is already glowing away at the heart of the city and getting New Yorkers in touch with their amorous side... Not a bad effort, Mr. Ingels.
