A neat short film that investigates contemporary culture’s enduring obsession with vinyl.
No matter how many times people try to kill it, vinyl just keeps coming back for more. In fact, 2011 was proclaimed the comeback year for the smooth black material that plays all your favorite jams of yore, and it doesn’t look like the underground vinyl maffia are about to give in anytime soon.
If you’ve ever wondered what it is that makes certain people devote a significant amount of their time to digging in crates, arranging listening parties and discussing relentlessly the merits of vinyl, ‘Vinyl People’, a portrait of several vinyl collectors, shop and label owners that tells us about their own experiences, can no doubt answer a few of your questions.
What’s more, if the subject catches your attention, you’ll be interested to know (if you don’t already) that the vinyl collection of BBC’s late, great and all-out legendary, alternative music DJ John Peel has been made available online for your listening pleasure.
