One of the best albums of 2011 generates one of the most striking videos of 2012.
No one can accuse us of disliking sci-fi here at AIAIAI. And if they did, we would probably consider cursing at them in Klingon. Well, maybe there’s no need to take things that far, but suffice it to say that such an accusation would be heavily frowned upon.
Regular readers will know that the name of the TMA-1 headphones is taken from Stanley Kubrick’s epic, 1968 sci-fi drama ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, and it’s no secret that we were massively into Kuedo’s Blade Runner-inspired album precisely because it married the best of vintage futurism with the most progressive sounds that 2011 had to offer. ‘Severant’ quite simply spoke to our inner sci-fi nerd and also sort of resonated with us on a creative and philosophical level.
This rather dazzling treatment from Konx-Om-Pax and Sabrina Ratté manages the remarkable feat of matching ‘Ascension Phase’s’ stunning aural beauty with visuals that breathe new (artificial) life into Kuedo’s inimitable effort.
Ultimately, there’s a lot to love in this, so get watching.
