There are many different ways to promote your message. Our buddies from the utterly excellent Parisian label/party crew/website ClekClekBoom made a trippy video featuring producers Bambounou and French Fries getting rowdy in the kitchen. A true Friday post, if we do say so ourselves.
Like many of the ClekClek crew, Bambounou earned his stripes skating the streets of Paris but it wasn’t until a few years later that he started producing and deejaying. Although his inspiration ranges everything from Chicago’s iconic ghetto house label Dance Mania to Detroit’s arcane Drexcyia it’s perhaps as a consequence of his unconventional method toward composition that Bambounou’s tracks are so unique. He admits that inconveniently his creativity tends to peak just before he goes to sleep and is subsequently forced to record rough ideas on his phone and take them to his studio in the morning. Moreover, he has seen his collaborative work with Joakim released on Sound Pelligrino and his debut solo effort “NIGHT / BRAWL” for ClekClekBoom garner much critical acclaim and be awarded single of the month in DJmag.
His father being a sound-engineer and producer of Latin music by trade meant that by the age of 8, French Fries was already making beats in his father’s studio. It wasn’t until the comparatively ripe age of 14 however that he started deejaying, after being introduced to Ministre X who at the time was playing all-over Paris. Subsequently French Fries took it up himself, and almost immediately received bookings to where he played everything from Brazillian Baile Funk to hip-hop. It was during this time that Valentino began to take an interest in house music production and develop the ghetto sound he is known for today. His debut EP “CHAMPAGNE / HUGZ ft. BAMBOUNOU” sold out on vinyl almost as soon as it had been released and his omnipresent track “YO VOGUE” was co-released with the revered Dirtybird label earlier this year. He also has a new, highly anticipated release, the Space Alarm EP, coming out on the San Franciscan label on 7th November.
If you don’t know CleckCleckBoom, Bambounou or French Fries, this video may not make much sense. Hell, it doesn’t make that all that much sense to us and we’re very familiar with their antics. But that doesn't mean it isn't dope!
What it boils down to is this:
Karaage Chicken Recipe
4 cuts of boneless chicken (roughly 1Kg)
2 teaspoons of freshly grated ginger
4 table spoons of soy sauce
2 tablespoons of Sake
2 tablespoons of sesame oil
3 tablespoons of flour
3 tablespoons of cornflour
Bambounou and French Fries like to cook and that’s what they do in the video. It gets a bit, shall we say, psychedelic at times, so hold on to your hats.
Happy Friday, everyone!
