Tartelet 009 // The Tickle Song

We are very happy to start 2010 with the 9th ep from Tartelet brought to you by the Tartelet founders Tomas Barfod and Frederik Bille Brahe. Tickle song have been lying around on our harddrive for some time but like a good redwine it has been ageing very well, and now it is ready to be released.

The original is a house song but sounds like it could have been played by Herbie Hancock. It features a teasing synthesizer solo, edgy live bass and live drums. To notch it up Tartelet asked Falko Brocksieper known from great releases on Sub Static and Tuning Spork to remix it and he has made a stripped down dark dubstep-disco version. Tartelets newest Danish talents Emil Viril & Chesper made a very efficient house remix.

You can retrieve the tracks from this link. Enjoy...

New release from Tartelet Records...

We hereby present our eighth 12″ - ‘The Work Out 1&2′ Mountain Ride/Restless Swing. This is the first split-12″ on our label, and it marks an important point in the peacemaking process between Denmark and Northern Germany, since the war in 1864. From Hamburg we have Wareika on the A side; one of Germany’s most promising acts. On the B side we have ourselves from Copenhagen (Tomas Barfod and I - aka Fredski).

This is the 3rd Tartelet Galaxy Edition release, which means that it embraces more experimental and deep sounds than the non-Galaxy output from our label.

Work Out 1# - Mountain Ride:

As the other german Tartelet artist Brand Brauer Frick, Wareika are known for their very organic approach to making deep techno and electronica. They have been releasing on some of Germanys strongest house and techno labels like Connaisseur, MotivBank and Liebe/Detail. Wareika has a warm, almost free jazz-like sound with just as clear references to Sun Ra and Weather Report as Kraftwerk. Mountain Ride is best described as an epic, dancy, live country mixup with a whole bunch of clesmer sounds. The whole track is played live by the three Wareikans; Florian does the vocals and plays the bass, Henrik is on strings and Jakob works the electronic elements live into the track as they play.

Work Out 2# - Restless Swing

Tomas and I reveal our passion for avantgarde, world and jazz on our two Get Physical releases during the summer. On Restless Swing we take it even futher, with a live palette of piano drums and saxophones. Expect ‘house-chops’ meets ‘band jam session’.

By the way, we are working on a Tartelet shop-in-shop solution integrated in the AIAIAI webshop and it'll be available sometime soon. In this shop-in-shop setup you'll be able ot buy and downloasd the music and our other merchandise. Keep you posted.
