I've always liked the idea music-discovery sites and I've found a lot of new favorites while browsing around. My major issue with those sites, however, has always been that they keep interrupting me with new distracting features rather than just letting the music speak for itself. Thesixtyone takes just the right approach to that problem. No unnecessary comments, tags, or album covers, just the music and a nice big backdrop. Enjoy the community of upcoming artists' finest work in the "Hot" playlist or choose one of the mood-specific ones (like mellow, smooth, or trippy) to find just the right track. I wish all music services could pull of a design this clean.

We like our own mixes, but from time to time we like to promote others as well. "Ostinato" is a music blog started by Philippe - a graphic designer, art director and co-founder of the swiss fashion brand called +41. On Ostinato he posts weird mixes in any kind of styles, fields, genres made from his friends. Each mix is available at Colette, they all come in the same package (ziplock black opac, black CD, gold sticker), no branding, no track listing only some info about the style of music, who mixed it and the duration, that’s it. Each one have its own symbol on a sticker to make them recognisable, the music is burned on black CDs and the title of the CD is engraved on it and all the CDs are numerised as limited to 41 pieces. Every mix is available one month after its released as a free download on the blog.

Right now everybody's writing about the new iPad, ladiladila. We obvioulsly like Apple an all, but instead we would like to direct some attention towards a project we've been following closely over the last few years. The OP-1 it is and it was just presented at the NAMM show last week. Audiofanzine.com promtly had it topping their list of the best music gear found at the show. Not surprisingly really. The OP-1 is developed by our Swedish friends from Teenage Engineering and it's a master piece. Its bold simplicity, yet super intelligent interface is going to blow away all you aficionados and even further. Thumbs up to Jesper and his crew! Our good friend Jon "Joshua" Schumann recently received a Swedish Grammis. He won the price for producing Kent's latest album "Röd". Jon is also helping us on the upcoming DJ project, the TMA-1 Headphone, which is to be launched this comig summer. Congratulations Jon - you certainly deserve it!

Last night we attended one of the best concerts this year, when Phoenix dropped by and rocked Vega. We have been fans of their funk-rock sound for a long time, so needless to say we had high expectations to see them in such a cool venue - we were not disappointed!

He reads the book himself and it also features an original soundtrack by Cave and Warren Ellis. The audiobook uses a groundbreaking 3D audio spatial mix, specifically designed for listening on headphones, creating a fully immersive experience for the listener. Quite an interesting setup.
