The team from the forthcoming documentary, ’I Dream of Wires’, met up with the great Carl Craig in April to talk about his electronic influences, production experiences and his fondness of modular technology. A sweet, little fix for all you gear heads out there.
It goes without saying that we’ll always have time for a man like Carl Craig. In fact, you could even go so far as to say that he’s one of our electronic heroes. Hell, sometimes we even get the feeling that the Detroit legend has put out so many seminal records that it’s actually difficult to keep track of it all.
Needless to say, that just makes it all the more rewarding when we discover that the main man himself has taken quite a shine to the TMA-1 . Moreover, we’re confident that our DJ headphones feel quite comfortable nestled on the great man’s head. Let’s put it this way, if the TMA-1 were a cat, it would purr contently.
In this short but sweet clip, the Detroit native talks about how he’s always been in tune with electronic sounds due to his upbringing in the motor city of sound, how synths have always been an important part of black music, and why he chose to work with raw, modular technology in ‘The Modular Pursuits.
You have to hand to the team from the ‘I Dream of Wires’ documentary; Their upcoming project looks like it could be a music tech-savvy winner.
