On Saturday the good people of Get Deep throw their monthly party at about/blank in Berlin. The guys always present ambitious line-ups but this time they have surpassed themselves. Headlining the event is none other than the legendary Greg Wilson.
I recently caught up with Giles Smith of the legendary London club night secretsundaze to learn about his affection for house music, his friendship and collaboration with Martin Dawson (RIP) and how to keep a club running for more than 12 years.
Going out in Berlin is usually associated with clubbing and people often forget to check out all the bars the city has to offer. Getting wasted can be a treat, if you know where to go.
A brand new interview with disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder has surfaced. The now 72 year old Moroder talks about collaborating with Daft Punk on their much-anticipated new album set to release in May..
The founding father of the legendary London club night, Secret Sundaze, recorded a three-hour set when playing Panorama Bar some weeks ago. A classy set ranging from deep Afro inspired tunes to Chicago, Acid and back again. Lots of hidden gems in there and well worth a listen...
In this interview from 2010 Om’Mas Keith talks about his upcoming album and explains why many artist travel to LA to finish their work. Enjoy!
The last two gigs were the best in terms of performance, especially in Hamburg everything came together just right. While the snow was falling heavily outside LOLA, Brandt Brauer Frick & Om’Mas delivered a spectacular show on the top floor of the old bunker.
This week I’m on tour with Brandt Brauer Frick, Omas Keith and LOLA, a new duo from Amsterdam. 5 gigs, 4 cities, 4 days. We started Wednesday night at Zoom in Frankfurt and tonight it’s going down in our motherly church of Berghain, Berlin. I secretly took a few shots during sound check.
Chi-town’s Chunk-a-bud aka Taxi C.A.B. has been part of my set for the last few months. His classic tune Chunk-a-nova from 1994 is just too good to be true (and the girls dig it). He was a resident DJ at the Red Dog club in Chicago in 1990s and has recently resurfaced with new material..
If you are into lo-fi house, the styles of Dam-Funk or just a fan of Miami Vice, I strongly recommend checking out Moon B.
I’m taking time off to rehabilitate, thus no article today. However, I have prepared a little mix that I hope you will enjoy... See you next week!
The monthly Get Deep party at About/Blank has become a rather legendary night. The line up is always killer (Floating Points, Prins Thomas, and Caribou are previous selectors), the club full euphoric people and the big garden behind the venue is just perfect for warm summer nights. I caught up with the GD crew to ask about the secret behind their success only to find out that Ping-Pong is king…
We are overly excited about the upcoming label night at Salon zur Wilden Renate on Saturday. Having Kenton Slash Demon and Brandt Brauer Frick gathered for a showcase is a big achievement – actually it’s the first time since 2010. The guys are always busy touring and therefore not easy to get hold of.
I got to know Axel Boman a few years ago in Berlin and we have kept contact ever since. Besides being a great producer and DJ, he is a decent guy with a very sympathetic outlook on the world – and he loves eating hotdogs in Christiania. Adorable!
Brandt Brauer Frick's forthcoming album should not be slept on says Emil.
Tartelet's main geezer sheds a knowing light on the weekend in Berlin. If you like clubbing and you're in Berlin from Thursday - Sunday, this is the one blog post you must read right this minute. Take it away, Emil.
The Tartelet Records boss serves up obscure, tasty Berlin delicacies in the form of Box Aus Holz Records. Take it away, Emil.
Our old Friend and partner, Emil from Tartelet Records, just started blogging for us and in this, his virgin post, he'd like to tell you about a gig he recently went to featuring pianist and Carl Craig collaborator Franscesco Tristano. Let it rip, Emil.
