The first contributor in our new mix series is label boss, Fade to Mind artist and skilled DJ, MikeQ, who has crafted a bouncy ballroom odyssey that’s all about the dance floor and full of tasty, cutting-edge suprises. It may be Monday, but we get the distinct feeling that this mix transforms everything in its wake into full-on Friday.
We first caught wind of MikeQ when he cheekily hit us up on Twitter. After realizing that this rather talented young man was signed to the one and only Fade to Mind label, we noticed his fondness for the TMA-1, which made us dig a little deeper into the rising phenomenon that is MikeQ. And we’re quite happy that we did as we then discovered that his exploits have been getting him features and pieces in a diverse cross-section of magazines such as XLR8R, Urban Socialites, Paper Mag, Fact, The Fader, ID Mag, Time Out London, and much more.
Moreover, Mike has played around the world at events and hotspots like MoMa PS1, Unsound Festival, Opening Ceremony, Turrbotax, Icee Hot, Ghetto Gothic, Fade To Mind & Night Slugs party nights, Boiler Room and shared the stage with a slew of amazing artists Such As Kingdom, Bok Bok, L-Vis 1990, NGUZUNGUZU, Girl Unit, Jam City, Fatima Al- Qadiri, Rizzla, Total Freedom, Dubbel Dutch, Jubilee, Venus X, Kenny Dope, Karizma, Brenmar, DJ Sliink, DJ Sega, DJ Rashad, and the list goes on. In other words, MikeQ may be a rapidly rising talent, but he’s far from a novice in the DJ game.
Here's what he had to say about his AIAIAI Mix:
‘The mix is an exciting Vogue-Beatz mix of what's current in the ballroom sound, starting off with a few of my latest remixes that are out and then certainly dipping into a lil bit of unreleased goodies you wont find anywhere online and then some.’
Listen, dance, freak out - and remember what Soulwax said: ‘Part of the Weekend Never Dies.’ We may make a Friday of this Monday yet.
